About the Project
How many times have you typed the same details into yet another form?
I built Formly to cut down the time it takes to complete a form. It saves your important information and fills out forms for you, and if there is any data it doesn’t know yet, it can learn from your responses.
Formly can also fill in longer, structured questions based on your LinkedIn profile and resume.
Rationale
Since I joined SMU in June, I have felt that filling out forms is a nightmare. People have to enter the same data again and again across different forms, and in this age of AI, I felt there had to be a faster way.
Project Journey
As a business student, I had never learnt the basics of coding. I had been trying to get Formly working on my own for a long time, and it was during an AI Lodge session, with help from the lodge captains, that it finally filled in a form with some basic information.
Key Takeaway
AI Lodge introduced me to VS Code and the folders and files behind every project, such as the client being the front-facing side and the server being the back end. I learnt that the best way to learn AI is to apply it, and I’ll be looking for ways to apply it to different parts of my life.
Areas for Improvement
With more time, I would make Formly more user-friendly and explore ways to turn it into a project that earns money.
